Individual Therapy for Neurodivergent Adults: A Different Way Forward

You’ve Already Done Years of This Work
You know the modalities by name.
CBT, DBT, the worksheets, the breathing exercise three different clinicians taught you like it was new.
You did the homework. And you walked out believing the problem was you.
Late at night the question circles back: why can’t I just…?
The sentence never finishes. It loops instead, while you pick apart why strategies that work for other people slide right off you.
Other nights you replay old sessions. The one where you felt judged. The one where you got pushed toward a version of yourself that cost more to hold.
Why the Standard Model Kept Missing You
Traditional therapy runs on a blueprint.
After years in and out of clinical rooms, that blueprint turns into one more place where you have to perform, camouflage, and try harder to fit a mold that was never built for you.
Enough rounds of that, and “unfixable” starts to sound like a diagnosis.
The shame that came with it measures how long you’ve been handed the wrong tools.
I Don’t Start You Back at the Beginning
This work asks something real of you.
Unmasking in front of another person is harder than any coping skill you’ve been handed. I treat you as the ultimate expert on your own internal experience. So we stop spending time on generic frameworks and go straight to what works for your specific mind.
I don’t track backward to re-teach coping mechanisms you already know. We bypass the entry-level material and get to the deeper nuance: unmasking, processing a lifetime of chronic misunderstanding, moving past survival into genuine independence.
Then we use whatever actually helps. Practicing what feels hard in small, controlled steps instead of forcing yourself through. Tightening the work around a concrete goal when you have one. Examining the thoughts running in the background when that’s genuinely useful.
Your Nervous System Settles First
Kindness and consideration work as deliberate clinical tools here. A gentle, nonjudgmental room lowers your internal threat response. And a nervous system that isn’t on guard finally reaches the material underneath.
The lights stay low. The chairs move. You sit however you need to sit.
We can also meet on video, from anywhere in New York.
There’s no clock on this. I don’t discharge people just because there’s nothing acute left to talk about. Most of this work runs six months to a year.
Plenty of people stay longer, at a lighter frequency.
Build a Life That Fits the Brain You Have
You wake up without the dread of forcing yourself into a shape that doesn’t fit.
Your schedule, your work, and your relationships get designed around your real energy, sensory needs, and pacing.
The apologizing stops.
Chronic burnout gives way to energy that lasts.
And your unmasked self reads as a valuable variance, something people get to know instead of something you manage.
The search is over. You’re already sitting in the room with someone who gets it.
Start Without Preparing a Thing
Getting here requires no performance and zero preparation. Fill out the two-minute contact form and tell me how you’d rather be reached.
From there we’ll set up a free 15-minute consultation, with no obligation and no expectation that you’ll tell me your whole story.
If we both feel it’s a fit, our first session goes to getting to know each other and easing your nervous system, before we shape a plan built around you.

Step Out of Guessing and Into Knowing
Moonrise is named for the phases. The moon doesn't change shape as it moves through them. You finally get to see it whole.
Your story has been there the whole time, adapting and masking and getting yourself through a world that never quite made room for you. You are not broken, and you don't have to keep guessing by yourself.
When you're ready to step out of the exhaustion of guessing and into the clarity of knowing, I'll be right here. Reach out for a free 15-minute consultation. No pressure, no obligation, just a conversation with a therapist and evaluator who has lived the question you're asking. Call or text (518) 903-9671.
