Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy: Specialized Care Rooted in Radical Kindness

Your Energy for Passing as Normal Has Run Out
There comes a point where you can’t deny it anymore. And you can’t push through it either.
That’s the crash: what’s left when the energy it takes to pass as normal finally runs out.
Everything has been running at double cost. A trip to the grocery takes the rest of your afternoon.
Twenty minutes of small talk takes the evening.
So you plan days ahead, rationing yourself to keep the collapse from landing mid-week. And underneath the planning sits a quieter question about how long the job holds, or the degree, or the relationship.
You Ask for Less So You Won’t Be Too Much
You want help. And right behind wanting it sits the fear of being a burden.
Your sensory needs feel like too much to ask of the people who love you.
Your processing time, your communication style, the accommodations that would actually work: all of it starts to feel like an imposition. So you ask for less. And you get lonelier.
The model you’ve been handed made that reasonable.
Your Wiring Was Never a Problem to Solve
Traditional mental health models treat neurodivergence as a set of behavioral deficits to manage, minimize, or fix.
After enough years of that, the approach feels like clinical gaslighting.
It hands your natural wiring back to you as a personal failure, in words like lazy, forgetful, awkward, stupid.
I work from a different starting position: neurodivergence is a neurological variance. Your baseline wiring isn’t something I try to alter. Your brain is the foundation every strategy gets built on top of.
Settle Your Senses Before You Solve Anything
The order matters more than the tools. We start by naming your specific sensory triggers. Then we bring your baseline down, far enough that your system comes out of alarm.
Nothing else is attempted while you’re still running hot.
Once you’re steady, the rest opens up: unmasking, boundary frameworks that hold, and language for what you need that other people can act on.
Then we design the days around it, with your energy cycles, your pacing, and your limits treated as facts instead of flaws.
Nothing about you needs translating before we start.
Live Without the Armor
Self-apology turns into something much closer to pride.
Your home, your workplace, and the people you spend your weekends with make room for your sensory comfort, your strengths, and your pace.
You describe what you need accurately, without paying for it in guilt afterward. The mask comes off. You’ve already proven you can endure this.
What’s left is the living part.
Start with the Smallest Possible Step
Begin with a free 15-minute introduction or keep it in writing if a live call is too much for a first contact. The contact form lets you choose how you’d rather hear back.
You don’t have to arrive with an explanation ready. If we both want to keep going, the first session belongs to your comfort and your pace.
Sessions run in person in Colonie or by video anywhere in New York State.

When you're ready to step out of the exhaustion of guessing and into the clarity of knowing, I'll be right here. Reach out for a free 15-minute consultation. No pressure, no obligation, just a conversation with a therapist and evaluator who has lived the question you're asking. Call or text (518) 903-9671.
